Technical Data

Canon EOS 5 - Canon 50mm lens
Iflord Delta 400 Professional Film
Kodak Paper (don't remember which one).
Around 11 AM, no clouds, bright sunshine. Must have been a really short
exposure at a really small f-number.

Exposure Data

This shot is part of a series i did on the guy you see on the picture.
He's a sculptor and he's been producing some truly amazing stuff.
A few weeks ago he started working on some new sculptures and decided he
needed to go to the junk-yard to collect pieces for his new work.
Hearing about that, the idea for the series was born. I wanted to show
Alex creating something, wanted to show the whole process but not just
that but also the person behind the art.
This particular picture was shot on the junk-yard, while he was browsing
through all the trash.
I wanted this photo to show Alex's euphoria, his child-like fascination
with what he's doing. Basically, I wanted to show how happy this stuff
makes him.

Critique

What i would like you guys to critique on is the frame, the moment i
chose, everything bascially. The only thing you need not mention is that
this picture is burnt out and all .. that's the fault of the scanner i'm
using. The tones in the print look just fine.

i find the framing works fine. you get a sense of the location from the background and his placement. however, i'd say maybe pulling back a bit, allowing more into the frame - but then again maybe not, i think this works well actually. sorry, i know that's not much of a critique when i go back on what i say... i love the theme you have though, showing the process behind the art. you could totally do this for so many different types of artists. this could be something huge if you let it.

did you sepia tone this toner or was it in ps?
